I have reason to believe that a significant chunk of the WellMedicated readership are jonesing inspiration junkies foaming at the mouth for their next fix. Ditto. It is for this reason that I’ve decided to shift the focus of this blog to be entirely inspiration only. Let’s face it, it’s pretty-much been that way for a while now anyway.

With this decision also comes a pretty kickass redesign to get the party started. Stay tuned for some awesome new features like interviews, artist showcases and more!

About the Redesign

Though I loved the old layout, it was not without its problems. This redesign gives a little more breathing room while adding new features like a very purrrdy logo, gravitar support, community links (submit yours), better subscriptions options, paginated navigation… I could go on and on.

This redesign been a long time coming but I am very, very proud of the final result. Thanks to everyone who has stayed subscribed during the “hiatus” and be sure to stay tuned for more awesomeness in the very near future!

You may have noticed a bit of a famine in the ol’ updates department here at the blog. I know I have, and it’s killing me.

Truth is, this year was my first holiday season as a full time freelancer and it seems I have a thing or two to learn in the area of time management. As a result, this blog has taken the hit and been left to fend for itself. I assure you this is only a temporary set back and we’ll be back in full swing in 2009!

In the mean time I thought I’d share with you a few articles that I’ve put together my favorite design blog; Smashing Magazine. Enjoy! And happy (belated) holidays everybody!

30 Unforgettable Movie Credit Sequences

A collection of my favorite movie opening title sequences (with videos).

40 Exquisite Independent Film Posters

I’m a big fan of independent film in general so this post was particularly awesome for me to work on.

50 Stunning Asian Movie Posters

Despite not being so well received and a few major boo-boo’s on my part, I stand by my selections as great poster design.

That’s all for now, but stay tuned for some huge changes in 2009 including a new logo, re-design and direction!

Those of you who know me know that if I were to call myself a ‘podcast enthusiast’ it would be something of an understatement. I have such an addiction to podcasts it’s way beyond anything healthy. At the time being, I am subscribed to almost 40 of ‘em… and it’s not nearly enough.

As a freelance web designer I spend a large chunk of time designing to these shows and they have become an integral part of my working routine. Here are my 10 absolute favorites.

The Rissington Podcast

John Oxton and Jon Hicks – two of the hottest names in web design - take questions from their listeners. Though the topics are not always design related, they are always entertaining and charmingly British.

The 404

The 404 from CNET is a podcast that covers everything an immature guy like me can’t get enough of. From video games to pop culture to weird current events, they cover it all and are hilarious while doing it. And did I mention it’s daily?!

You Look Nice Today

This is the kind of show that makes you look crazy when riding the bus. It will cause you to burst out into hysterical laughter leaving everyone else frightened and confused. Listen at your own risk.

Film Junk

As I’ve previously mentioned I’m a total movie nerd and as such listen to a plethora of movie podcasts. Film Junk, however, is by far my favorite. I’ve been listening for almost 3 years and it has never let me down.

Maniacal Rage

Maniacal Rage pure comedic gold. It’s a rather new discovery for me, but I’ve been quickly burning through the archives. Fans of quick, deadpan comedy should definitely check it out.

Freelance Radio

Freelance Radio is the podcast from one of my favorite websites; Freelance Switch. It covers the ins and outs and ups and downs of the freelance lifestyle. I have learned a lot from this show.

Net @ Night

Leo Laporte and Amber MacArthur spend countless hours surfing the internet just to share their discoveries with their listeners. A great show for anyone into web 2.0, new media and all those other fancy buzzwords.

Smodcast

Smodcast is a weekly podcast from film director Kevin Smith and producing partner Scott Mosier. The subject matter can get pretty inappropriate at times, but it makes me laugh. Definitely not for the easily offended or the high of brow.

Diggnation

I’m sure a lot of you have heard of this one, but I would be remiss not to include it in this list. Diggnation is a video podcast covering the popular stories that week from digg.com …usually while inebriated.

This American Life

Okay, I’m cheating a little here. This American Life, technically speaking, is a national public radio show that happens to podcast its episodes to the internet. But I’m oh so glad they do. Each episode picks a theme and assembles a collection of stories surrounding that theme. I can’t even put into words how much I love this show. Just check it out.

Any Suggestions?

Are there any fellow podcast addicts out there care to share their favorites? I’m always on the prowl for a new fix.

In a feeble attempt to stir up some buzz for my upcoming free Wordpress theme (release date to be determined), I thought I’d give you all a sneak peek at my next Wordpress opus: ZinePress.

ZinePress is not exactly a full-on heavy-duty Magazine theme, but she’s not exactly a standard blog design either – hence the name; ZinePress. Pretty complex stuff, I know.

As a designer, I feel that this is some of my strongest work. I am so stoked for this release that I just can’t wait any longer to let the cat out of the bag. But for the time being, this scaled down screen-shot will have to do.

As I don’t know of the exact release date yet (likely a week or two), I would highly recommend subscribing to wellmedicated’s RSS feed to keep up to date.

In other news, I am becoming a master of the “shameless plug”.

Wellmedicated was a very short-lived project of mine that has been collecting dust for too many months now. It was a grab-bag-anything-goes blog with no real subject at heart. In just a few short months wellmedicated has joined the ever growing wasteland of abandoned blogs and forgotten websites – for this I am sorry. In all of five blog posts I’ve built a tiny handful of loyal readers who are remarkably still subscribed and undoubtedly losing hope. If you’re reading this, I probably mean you – yeah you.

So, thank you for sticking around. The site has been revamped and is about to be relaunched in a big way. Over the past few years my once hobby of making websites has grown into something of an obsession. This recently led to me quitting my job and pursing web design full time as a freelancer (more of that to come later, I’m sure).

If all goes according to plan, wellmedicated will be a design resource where I can share my theories, thoughts and findings to eager readers around the globe. I hope you’ll be one of ‘em.
